When you're renting a home, you're usually stuck with basic light fixtures. But this doesn't mean you can't improve your lighting. Simply use a plug-in light fixture with a regular power socket - no electrician needed. You can also move it later and take it with you if you move out.
Plug-in pendant lights for apartments and rental homes are easily installed. A hook can be screwed into the ceiling and a swag pendant hung from it. The cord plugs into a regular socket. You can also try plug-in corner/triangle lights, plug-in wall sconces and swing-arm lights. Or give your boring apartment lights a temporary makeover with a conversion kit. (Check with your landlord about using screws in walls etc)
Portable lamps are also an easy option. Add floor lamps or torchieres in a corner or next to a chair. Add table lamps either side of a couch or seating area. And finish off with a desk lamp or accent lamp.
Mount a apartment or rental light fixture to the ceiling to light a large area. Or position it over a table or island. Just remember to leave enough head-room.
Attach a apartment or rental wall light to the wall for ambient lighting. A good option near to traffic areas or next to seating. Complements a central light fixture.
Stand a apartment or rental lamp on the floor or on low furniture. It will light the nearby area of the room and add ambient light. Great in a corner or next to seating.
Decorate with apartment or rental decor to furnish your living space. Clocks, mirrors, cushions, rugs. Enjoy the comforts of a modern apartment or rental.
