“Typically, harsher climates in the Southwest and coastal areas use stainless steel outdoor lighting fixtures but the material deteriorates over time because of the salt erosion. The non-corrosive, UV resistant proprietary finish of each Vivex fixture provides the armor against harsh elements of sun, wind, salt and water. Ideal for moist climates such as waterfront homes and dry conditions, each Vivex fixture comes with a three-year warranty and is tested through 300 rigorous hours of use, simulating 3 years of harsh weather.

“The inspiration for the technology came from the paint finishes on boats built to withstand harsh conditions. Maxim Lighting interpreted this marine technology into nuanced finishes with texture, depth and shading to create authentic and highly durable outdoor fixtures,” explains Sperling.

Twice As Strong as Resin Lighting

The strength of marble is the trade secret to Vivex’s intricate detailing and durability is an injection mold process far superior to die cast and resin molds and a patented material of ground marble powder and latex bonded together with adenosine triphosphate that is twice as strong as resin. “Because resin tends to be a thicker material, it doesn’t produce elaborate design details,” says Sperling. Maxim injects under high pressure into steel molds, not plaster molds like ordinary resin fixtures. The result is extremely dense and hard weather-resistant material with stunning intricate details. Vivex is twice as hard as typical resin fixtures that will crack and chip over time.

Maxim Lighting artisans hand paint each Vivex outdoor lighting fixture with 3 layers: a dark base coat, a second detail coat and finally a sealant to keep out the elements. After curing a full 36 hours, the result is a finish that won’t fade and erode to white like other fixtures over time.

Long Lasting Outdoor Lighting

In extreme weather conditions, typical outdoor lighting starts to deteriorate immediately and within a few years, it starts to look bad. When you choose Vivex, you will double or triple the amount of time your fixtures will last. “There is no real need to replace Vivex fixtures in five years, the typical time frame for replacement, because they still look good and perform well,” says Sperling.
