- USE FOR - Works best with spider-fitter lampshades that are about 12" tall. A slip uno harp is generally 3" shorter than the lampshade, provided the shade "drop" is 1 inch. (drop is the distance from the top of the shade to the center washer.

This Slip Uno Adapter Converts your Standard Lampshade to fit on Slip Uno Lamp Base. Did you ever have trouble finding an UNO fitter shade? This is common because most replacement shades have standard "spider" fitters (aka "washer" fitters). Will this fit your lamp? Our Uno opening is 1 7/16" which is the most common size, so be sure to measure your bulb socket to make sure the diameter is less than 1 7/16". Slip Uno adapters are made to fit directly over a plastic lamp socket found on lamps usually purchased at many popular retail stores. Uno fitter shades are difficult to find, so this adapter lets you use standard washer fitter shades on your uno lamp base. This adapter attaches directly to the harp, allowing use of nearly any replacement lamp shade. Harp is 9" tall and the height from the bottom Uno ring to the top plate is 9", so this fitter works best with shades that are about 12" tall. Polished brass finish.

What is a Lamp Shade?
A lamp shade is a decorative shade which typically surrounds a light source. Table lamps and floor lamps often use a lamp shade. The shade itself serves multiple functions, directing light upwards for ambient light, and downwards for nearby tasks. The funnel shape also helps heat to escape from the light bulbs. Some light may diffuse through the sides of the shade as well. The shade also protects your eyes from light-bulb glare and can become a part of your room's decorative style. Replacement lamp shades are a great way to refresh a lamp or light fixture. They attach to the lamp usually with a harp or fitter and finial.

Mounts to a Lamp
Sits on top of a harp or fitter, which is typically attached to a floor or table lamp. Spider-fitter shades sit on top of a harp fitter (a separate item). Uno fitter shades sit below the bulb with the uno fitter above. Clip-on shades clip directly onto the light bulb.

This shade includes an Uno Fitter
The top of this shade is fitted with an `Uno` fitter, designed to fit around the bulb socket. Think of the uno fitter as a spider fitter with a very deep drop which doesn't require a harp. Arms extend from the top edge of the shade to a central ring, deeply recessed down into the center of the shade. A `Slip Uno` fitter sits beneath the light bulb, fastened by the bulb, while a `Threaded Uno` fitter sits above an upside-down bulb, secured by a threaded ring. Threaded Uno fitters are usually used with down-bridge lamps or reading lamps, where the bulb aims downward from above.The shade comes complete with an uno fitter, since it is built into the lamp shade and is not a part of your lamp base. An uno fitter is only replaceable by replacing the lamp shade.
